Giant Flag Part of July 4 Celebration
For the second year in a row, this giant flag was created on the lawn of Lyle and Paula Hansen’s Lake Panorama home to help celebrate the Fourth of July. Their son, Chip Hansen, came up with the idea last year, and decided to make it an annual tradition. The flag is made to scale, and is five times the size of a standard 3 x 5 flag. He prepped the site June 30 by mowing the grass and removing the clippings, then he and Lyle painted the flag the afternoon of July 1. The project required about 10 gallons of field turf paint, the same product used on athletic fields.
