Q: Is trapping allowed at Lake Panorama?

A: According to section 6.3(d) of the LPA Rules and Regulations, trapping is generally prohibited but may be allowed under certain controlled situations with special permission by the Lake Panorama Association.

Q: I appreciate the brush disposal site by the Par 3 golf course. When was it created, and what prompted it?

A: We posed this question to LPA General Manager John Rutledge, and he said the brush facilities have been in-place for more than 30 years. “We previously operated three facilities but closed down one on Leo Drive due to development in that area. The east and west side of Lake Panorama each have one disposal site,” he shared.

Rutledge also noted that Iowa Law is strict on the burning of brush. “LPA is able to operate these sites under an agreement with Lake Panorama RIZ, who determined that reduced burning in ditches and drainages resulted in less erosion and siltation into Lake Panorama. Members are advised to strictly adhere to the rules, as the association’s compliance with Iowa Law is essential to ensuring our ability to keep these operational into the future.”

Q: I would like to have a few hens on my property? Is that allowed or not?

A: Section 7.03(a) of the LPA Rules and Regulations, no animals or fowl shall be kept or maintained on said lots except customary pets in reasonable numbers.

Q: Can I use a burn pit when there is a burn ban in the county?

A: According to the State Fire Marshal, a burn ban does not prohibit the following: supervised, controlled burn for which a permit has been issued by the fire chief of the fire district where the burn will take place, the use of outdoor fireplaces, barbecue grills, properly supervised landfills, or the burning of trash in incinerators or trash burners made of metal, concrete, masonry, or heavy one-inch wire mesh, with no openings greater than one square inch.

Q: What are the LPA rules on gun usage?

A: Section 9.2(f) of the LPA Rules and Regulations states that no firearms shall be discharged for any purpose authorized by these regulations excepting the LPA Security Department usage for dangerous animal control.

Q: Can I store my RV on my C-lot?

A: Section 8.02(a) of the LPA Rules and Regulations states that boat/PWC trailers, boats, PWCs, and non-enclosed utility trailers are the only property that may be stored on undeveloped lots. Utility trailers must have a current registration displayed, be open in design, not longer than a 14’ model, and be completely empty. Recreational vehicles, campers, motor vehicles, enclosed trailers, dump trailers and other equipment storage are prohibited on undeveloped lots.
