Q: How many votes will need to switch from “no” to “yes” for the EMS measure to gain the 60% necessary approval if it is put to a vote again?
A: If the same 6,153 voters came to the polls again to vote on the measure, 377 would need to change from voting “no” to voting “yes” in order for the measure to reach the 60% threshold for passage. The city with the highest percentage of “yes” votes was Panora at 64.49%. The city with the lowest percentage of “yes” votes was Stuart at 35.52%.
Q: I see UTVs on the LPA roads frequently. Don’t LPA rules prohibit this?
A: No, LPA rules do NOT prohibit the use of utility vehicles. Section 4.6 of the LPA Rules and Regulations states that utility vehicles are defined as any motorized vehicle intended for off-road recreational usage. They may be operated on LPA roadways during daylight hours. Utility vehicles with proper lighting (as for automobiles) may be operated on LPA roadways outside of daylight hours. Operators shall have a valid driver’s license in their immediate possession and shall comply with LPA traffic signs, including, but not limited to, speed limit.
Q: I have someone interested in renting my lake home for Christmas week. Do I need to let LPA know?
A: The short answer is yes. Section 2.30 of the LPA Rules and Regulations says: “Prior to renting their home or condominium, a member must register their renter with the LPA office on the form established by the Association and provide a copy of the rental agreement signed by the member and the renter.” This section also says the LPA may establish a fee for the registration of renters, and that prior to the commencement of any rental period, renters must sign an agreement stating they will abide by all LPA rules and regulations. Failure to register a renter will result in a fine to the LPA member.
Q: Great job on your Veteran Salute in last month’s Lake Panorama Times. How can I get some extra copies?
A: Thank you. We enjoyed putting it together, too. For extra copies, just stop by our office at 104 Industrial Road in Guthrie Center any weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and pick them up. Or, if that doesn’t work for you, let us know, and we will make other arrangements for you.
Q: Thank you for having the open house for your new office on Nov. 13. My husband and I both enjoyed the tour and learning more about your business. We wish you all the best.
A: Thank you for stopping by. We had a wonderful turnout for the event, and we look forward to continuing to serve Guthrie County residents and business owners in even more ways down the road.
