Name: Reggie

Age: Approximately 6 months old

Breed: Standard Poodle/Redbone Coonhound and Great Pyrenees (according to his DNA test)

Owners: Michelle and Joel Betzer

Reggie was abandoned as a young puppy in Oklahoma and transported to AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport, where he was adopted in March. Reggie will be a very big boy one day. For now, he is just an adorably uncoordinated baby giant. The Betzers say you may hear him barking passionately at a grasshopper, leaf or other highly suspicious backyard activity. They say that’s the coonhound side coming through. They are working on helping him become a respectful neighbor. They say the good news is you will also hear plenty of laughter. Reggie has quickly earned the title of “Best Friend” and can usually be found keeping up with the Betzers’ 4-year-old son. Their favorite activity is turning Zoomies into Floppies.

Name: Cooper Temple

Breed: 100% field retriever

Age: Estimated 2 years old

Owners: Kate Simon and Dillon Temple. Cooper is from Raccoon River Pet Rescue.

Cooper loves finding random things to play with on the beach. He enjoys pontoon rides, wading in the water after a long walk or chasing his cousin Lenny around the yard. One thing he is not a fan of is swimming. Cooper would rather stay close to his parents than go for a solo swim. Maybe if his mom and dad went in the water, he might enjoy it more. Otherwise, there is not a lot he doesn’t like — other than being left at home. Cooper prefers joining in on the fun.

Name: Jolene “JoJo” Cate

Age: 1.5 years old 

Breed: Labrador mix. Rescued from AHeinz 57. 

Family members: Alison, Jimmy, Beric and Teddi Cate. Grand-dog to Barry Monaghan.

JoJo loves chasing tennis balls and her human siblings. She loves snuggles, sunbathing and playing in the water. She is not a fan of golf cart rides, but is working on it with many trips to the lake. Guilty pleasures include counter
surfing to steal the kids’ dinner.

Names: Skyelar and her sidekick, Gia 

Breeds: Female lab and yorkie

Ages: 8 months old and 8 years old

Owners: Tom and Linda Schmitt

Skyelar loves the water and boat rides. She is currently learning to hunt with Tom for pheasant and duck. She is not sure yet about riding around the lake on the UTV with Tom. 

Gia is Skylar’s sidekick after the passing of their 13-year-old chocolate lab, Remi. Gia also loves the water and boating.

Owner: Abbey Merryman (daughter of Jay and Sue Merryman)

Juniper and Sophie love coming to the lake. They enjoy swimming, boat rides and chasing the deer.

Name: Sunny

Age: 7 years old

Breed: Mix

Owner: Nate Nielsen

Sunny loves coming to the lake. Her first order of business is taking a swim, followed by a few rounds of zoomies. She enjoys having other dogs and humans visit, and her favorite activity is taking in the beautiful sunsets.
