A walking path at Boulder Beach recently received the green light when the $60,000 needed for construction was raised through Friends of Lake Panorama.
Private donations and funds from two Beach Balls accounted for the first $52,000 needed. On July 9, the Friends board of directors set a goal of raising the remaining $8,000 by mid-August, and private donors rose to the challenge.
While the $60,000 goal has been reached, Friends will continue to accept donations for this project through the end of September. Additional funds would provide a cushion in case of change orders and could be used for landscaping and other extras along the path.
Bids were solicited in 2025 with Caliber Concrete being awarded the project. Caliber Concrete is owned by Jason Martin, who has a home at Lake Panorama. Martin is targeting late-September to begin construction, although weather and other factors could delay the start. Once work is underway, construction will take about three weeks.
The concrete path will be 6 feet wide, 5 inches thick and one-third of a mile long. The main entrance will be through an opening in the existing wooden fence south of the parking lot. The path winds past the shelter houses and playgrounds, then along the lake before looping back to the north side of the parking lot.
All donations are tax-deductible. Donors of $500 or more will be recognized on a sign near the start of the walking path and on the Friends website.
