Tickets still are available for the 20 Men Who Can Cook fundraiser Sunday, Oct. 19, which will feature men preparing a favorite dish to share. This is the second year for local chefs to raise money for improvements on the Lake Panorama National golf course.

This event is open to the public and will be held at The Captain’s Pick at Lake Panorama National Resort. Each chef will prepare enough food to provide at least one sample per guest. A cash bar will open at 4 p.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. Food samples will be available 4:30 p.m. through 6:30 p.m. There is no formal program, and guests can come and go anytime during the three-hour time period.

Funds raised last year were used to improve four tee boxes on the LPN golf course. Proceeds from this year’s event will support renovation of the course’s driving range.

Food samples will be available in four general categories — appetizers, main dishes, side dishes and desserts. For instance, guests can plan on Cap-fil-A fried chicken sandwich sliders with roasted garlic aioli and pickle; cioppino (fisherman’s stew); brisket, pulled pork, and pork tenderloin sliders; Old Bay crab Mac ‘n cheese; cavatelli; pig wings; chili; jalapeno cream corn; bacon wrapped water chestnuts; tortellini soup; assorted pies, bars and cookies, and more.

To date, volunteer chefs include Mason Babcock, Chris Duree, Mike Faga, Sean Grambart, Adam Kent, Keith Ketcham, Kane Powell, Galen Redshaw, Ron Reynolds, Rod Robson, Nick Smith, Jim Tibbles, Jim Tometich, Mike Trebon, Dave Wagler, Corey Welberg and Paul Wendl.

Stations with the chefs and their food samples will be set up around the perimeter of the banquet room. Plates, bowls, napkins and plastic utensils will be available for guests to use as they pick up food samples.

Tables where guests can sit will be in the banquet room, dining room and the bar area. Advance tickets are $50. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door, at a cost of $60.

Advance registration by Oct. 12 is encouraged so organizers can plan accordingly. Online registration can be done at lpnresort.com/4oYYoXa. Also, registration forms are available in the LPN pro shop and can be completed and given to pro shop staff, along with a check made payable to Friends of Lake Panorama.
