Lake Panorama property owners will see a new LPA Lake Patrol boat on the water this season. It is a Highfield rigid inflatable boat. The boat is 18 feet long, compared to the 20-foot Lund boats in use. The motor is the same 115 horsepower but a Suzuki rather than a Mercury.
Corey Larsen, LPA Security chief, says LPA decided to try a rigid hull boat for a few reasons.
“The ride is generally better than the Lund boats we currently use. The wave action and chop can take a toll on you sitting in a boat for long periods of time,” he says. “Also, you can sit or stand while driving this boat. And you sit up higher, which gives you a better field of view.”
Larsen says LPA Lake Patrol will continue to use the two Lund boats currently in service. Looking ahead to the boating season, Larsen said he plans to have two patrol boats on the water during busy times.
