The Panorama West women’s golf league hosted a two-gal best-shot tournament Tuesday, June 10, with 36 teams participating. The tournament theme was “Queen of the Green.”
Participants were encouraged to dress to match the royal theme. There was a best dressed prize, with two teams recognized. They were Sheila Grambart and Joan Trebon, both of Lake Panorama, and Connie Hamilton and Nancy Scheffers, both from Jefferson.
Cash prizes were awarded to the top four teams in five flights. Winners of the championship flight were Carol VanKirk, Lake Panorama, and her sister, Teresa Newman of Ankeny, with a score of one-over-par 28.
Lunch was prepared and served by Paul Wendl. While waiting for lunch, teams answered trivia questions about the British Royal family.
Tournament committee members were Rhoda Williams, Debbie Rockwell, Linda Wendl, Kathy Feilmeyer, Donna Brody, Joanne Sandage, Carol VanKirk, Pam Shelton and Peg Carr.
Sheila Grambart and Joan Trebon of Lake Panorama were recognized for their “Queen Bees” outfits at the Panorama West two-gal tournament June 10. Coop Rickert and Diane Pieper, both of Lake Panorama, show off their crowns at the June 10 2-gal golf tournament at Panorama West. Sisters Carol VanKirk of Lake Panorama and Teresa Newman of Ankeny won the championship flight in the Panorama West 2-gal golf tournament June 10 with a one-over-par score of 28. Joanne Sandage was a member of the Panorama West 2-gal tournament committee. She managed the contest on the golf course putting green where participants used croquet mallets to putt golf balls. Winners of special events — closest to the pin, longest putt, longest drive, closest to the crown — were, left to right, Sue Sherlock, Judy Contner, Vicki Schuurmans and Amy Ganske. Connie Hamilton and Nancy Scheffers of Jefferson were honored in the “best dressed” category at the Panorama West two-gal tournament June 10. Panora area golfers Kathy Klinge, Ammy Webster, Kim Cobb and Amy Block came ready to be Queens of the Greens at the June 10 Panorama West 2-gal golf tournament. A putting contest took place on the Panorama West practice green throughout the 2-gal tournament June 10. Here Phyllis Davis takes a turn trying to putt a golf ball with a croquet mallet.
