On Oct. 1, Lake Panorama National (LPN) and Nick and Lynn Kuhn jointly announced the conclusion of their two-year relationship regarding food and beverage operations at LPN. The Kuhns first began their tenure as LPN’s food and beverage tenant in January 2023 and opened for business in March of that year.
Nick Kuhn reflected on the two-year relationship.
“We’re grateful for the friendships made and the people we’ve met at Panorama. But, in business, we believe we should always strive to find the perfect fit for all involved. In the end, LPN and our team determined this was not the perfect fit.”
The Kuhns will conclude restaurant operations on Oct. 5. Beverage service will continue at Spikes, on the golf course, and in the Links, based upon weather, tee times and scheduled golf events.
Patrons of the Links can continue to support Kuhns at any of their three other operations. The couple owns and operates The Beerhouse in Urbandale and The Hall DSM in Valley Junction, and leases the Sun Valley Lake Clubhouse Bar & Grille.
Royce Shaffer, LPN director of operations, outlined golfer expectations for the future.
“As we wrap up 2024, we appreciate the effort being made by Nick and Lynn to ensure a smooth transition. They are prepared to provide beverage service throughout the remaining LPN golf event calendar, which will allow our members and customers to enjoy the remaining fall golf through our Nov. 3 Iditarod event.”
Shaffer continued, “Looking ahead, I can share LPN has reached an agreement in concept with Ted Hawley of Alpha Ventures LLC for 2025 food and beverage operations.”
Hawley’s company operates multiple food and beverage establishments in Des Moines, Omaha and Sioux City.
Hawley offered his thoughts for 2025, stating, “My team and I are looking forward to being part of LPN next year. I’m encouraged by the direction of our conversations and optimistic we can achieve a final agreement. We look forward to sharing more about 2025 in the months ahead.”
