By now, each of you who receive this publication in the mail should have also received separately in the mail a copy of the Lake Panorama Source, a resident guide specifically for Lake Panorama property owners. Inside its pages, you will find answers to common questions along with contact information for services. You can also check out the digital version by scanning this QR code. A link is available at lakepanoramatimes.com as well. A limited number of additional copies are also available at the LPA office.

Fire in the sky

If you have been around Lake Panorama on the Fourth of July, you know how impressive the fireworks can be. What you may not know is how the show is funded. The annual “Fire in the Sky” fireworks display is sanctioned by the Lake Panorama Association and put on by the Joe Scheiring family. It will begin at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 5 and will be set off from Shady Beach. This is the 29th year the Fourth of July holiday tradition has been organized by the Scheiring family, and your donations are appreciated. Send checks for the 2025 Lake Panorama fireworks display to Rita Scheiring/Fire in the Sky, P.O. Box 605, Panora, Iowa, 50216. Or Venmo @Rita-Scheiring.

Veterans section

Last year, we published our first effort at a Guthrie County Veteran Salute, complete with photos of local veterans through the years with ties to Guthrie County. You can view it by scanning this QR code.

After the section published, we continued to collect photos for our second effort. I am proud to say that we now have more than 280 photos to include in this year’s edition. If you or someone you know is a veteran with ties to the county, and you would like to see that person included, visit www.gctimesnews.com/veterans and submit the information. Or, if you need help, just give us a call at 641-332-2707.

Best of Guthrie County returns

Our Best of Guthrie County poll is now up to 365 votes, which is a great start. We had a total of 471 votes last year, and we expect to exceed that with a strong push in the final weeks. We certainly appreciate your support of the people, businesses, places and events of Guthrie County by voting in our poll.

If you haven’t voted yet, there is still time. There are 82 categories to vote in ranging from best place to take your dog, to best plumber, to best dinner spot. You can even vote for best teacher, best coach and even best elected official. Your vote can make a difference. Cast it now at https://gctimesnews.com/best-of.

As always, I thank you for reading.
