The lighthouse on the jetty just west of Lake Panorama’s marina often shows up in photos. This month’s nature photo taken by Trish Hart uses the lighthouse, the lake and a setting sun to preserve a beautiful scene. Hart snapped the photo during an earlier boating season.
The lighthouse was built by Bill Priestley. It was commissioned by Dr. Mark Menadue of Menadue Development, LC, who owns The Port and Lakeside Village. In 2009, he donated nearly $20,000 to have the lighthouse built and installed on the jetty.
At the time, he was developing the Lakeside Inn and Lakeside Village projects and said he thought it would be a nice addition to improve the main basin and provide a pleasing amenity for residents at the Inn and the Village.
The lighthouse is painted with black and white stripes, has a diameter of 7 feet, and is 23 feet tall. It was built in Priestley’s shop and hauled in three sections to the jetty to be completed. This lighthouse replaced an older one that was just 4 feet in diameter and about 10 feet tall.
With spring and summer quickly approaching, it’s likely many photos of the Lake Panorama lighthouse will be taken to preserve fond memories of the 2025 boating season.
Hart offers custom prints of her photos on canvas, paper, metal and glass. Learn more by visiting Nature’s Canvas Photography on Facebook.
